The Butte County Historical Society has been publishing the Diggin’s since its formation in 1956. This collection of Diggin’s covers Oroville’s early history. How the towns name was changed from Ophir to Oroville in 1854 and its relationship with Marysville. Also, the history of the early banks and three of Oroville’s early residents and businessmen and how they were instrumental in getting the town started. Each booklet is approximately 15 to 20 pages, several contain other articles of interest as well.
