RESEARCHING BUTTE COUNTY HISTORY and FAMILIES

The BCHS Archives serves researchers from all over the world seeking information about hundreds of topics as well as family connections.  Our volunteer staff welcomes inquiries from researchers.  We will assist in accessing our collections and, if we can, with a limited amount of other local research.

The archival collections include over 10,000 photographs, 3.600 documents, maps, ledgers, and archival collections as well as a comprehensive research library, in addition to over 5,000 historic artifacts.  All are accessible through a searchable database.

 
Because our Archives facility is open only on Thursday and Fridays from 9 am to noon, and is staffed by volunteers, researchers are urged to contact us via email at buttehistory@sbcglobal.net.  Please make your inquiry as specific as possible, include your name, your address, and a phone number, and tell us briefly what sources of information you have already found.  Phone messages (530 533-9418) will be returned as soon as possible.
