The video, “Oroville and The Two Chinatowns” is about Oroville’s relationship with the Chinese from 1853 to 1940. It is a story that few people are aware of. In 1874 there were 8,000 Chinese miners along Feather River Blvd. in an area known as the Lava Beds. They mined an area 2 miles wide by 3 miles long. Enjoy!

Anna Morrison: The Morrison family lived in Oregon City, near the Oregon City school in the 1850’s and 60’s. Anna Morrison would become a well known writer/speaker at a young age and later a newspaper editor in Ukiah. She also ran for the California Assembly.
Amy Morrison: Was the older cousin of Anna Morrison, Amy’s family lived in Cherokee. Her father, Henry Morrison started a stage line to Oroville in 1881. Later he expanded his route adding different stage runs. At the age of 20, Amy became one of just a few women stage drivers in California.
Odd Fellows Home: Thermalito originally planned the structure as a hotel. The costs of building the structure was so great the building was not finished. It was donated to the Odd Fellows, a fraternal organization who finished it as a home for elderly members.
