In 2018 Jane (Lunt) Homen contacted the Yankee Hill Historical Society regarding her family’s history in Butte County. The family goes back to the early 1850’s in both Frenchtown and Dogtown. Jane had been studying the family genealogy for a number of years.  She had accummulated a large number of family photographs along with photographs of others in Butte County. She made copies of the family photographs, retaining the originals and graciously gave the remaining originals to Yankee Hill Historical Society. Upon realizing the scope of the collection and discussion with Jane, it was decided that the collection needed to be shared with The Butte County Historical Society as well. Both organzations now have a complete copy; the originals given to the Butte County Historical Society for safe keeping and the Yankee Hill Historical Society made copies for their online digital archives. Over the course of two years, the amount of artifacts Jane gave both organizations grew. We want to share a sample of the nearly 100 photographs in the collection held in the Butte County Historical Society archives here. Also shown are copies of several interesting documents from the collection. Both the Yankee Hill Historical Society and the Butte County Historical Society wish to thank Jane (Lunt) Homen and other members of the family for sharing this unique collection of their family’s history.
